The Mets' No. 3 prospect struck out six and allowed a run on four hits over a season-high six innings as Buffalo defeated Gwinnett, 4-1, on Wednesday.
Familia struggled a bit in the first inning, walking Luis Durango with one out. After Durango stole second and third base, Familia surrendered an RBI single to Stefan Gartrell, but recovered to set down the next seven batters before Durango bunted for a single in the third.
Wednesday marked the first time all season that Familia (3-1) worked into the sixth. The 22-year-old right-hander walked two and exited for a pinch-hitter in the seventh after throwing 59 of his 85 pitches for strikes.
Since surrendering six runs over four innings against Lehigh Valley on April 16, Familia has posted a 2.84 ERA over his last four starts, going 2-0 in that time.
Justin Hampson allowed three hits over 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and Elvin Ramirez recorded the save with 1 2/3 perfect innings.
Zach Lutz was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and is batting .321 for the Bisons and Fred Lewis had three hits.
